I'm Not Dead...

...so put down the party hats, people. I've just been without access to a computer for awhile, and I've taken some time to refocus my priorities and get my life on schedule. It was a much needed retreat, as I was extremely close to burning myself out--not updating my stories, getting into arguments for no good reason, and generally just getting bored with doing the same old thing every day--until God (or fate, or whatever you want to call it) decided to intervene and remove the biggest distraction from my life. But now I'm back and feeling more creative than ever.

I won't be able to fully return until I figure out just what the hell is wrong with my laptop (I have too many debts to take it to a professional, so I'm pretty much screwed for a while), but I am able to use my school's computers to stay in contact with you all. I won't be writing either until I manage to recover the data from my hard drive, because I was too lazy to actually back anything up. I didn't think I needed to. Lesson learned there.

What have I been up to now that I don't spend over ten hours a day on the web? Work, mostly, and playing video games in my spare time. I recently picked up Resident Evil 4, and I love it so far. Definitely one of the best games I've ever played. I also took the time to complete Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 3 (I skipped 2, based on word that it sucks ass). I'll likely continue doing this, as I greatly enjoy it, so between that, school, and of course my job, I'll probably end up spending even less time online. But maybe that's for the best.

See you around,

Movie Theatre Etiquette

Now, before you say that you've read this rant a million times before, let me remind you that this is coming from the perspective of somebody who works at a movie theatre. Therefore, chances are you haven't heard this particular rant before. This is addressed to just about every annoying, bitchy, or otherwise unpleasant customer that I've ever encountered. I've gotten used to dealing with their abuse, but since I can't take it out on them, I'm going to rant about it here.

Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Muse Gone?

I'm totally the first person to come up with that title. Really. Hey, you try coming up with something more original at 1 am! ;)

Anyway, I seem to have lost inspiration for my stories. Work, as well as being reminded several times why one should never argue over the internet, have me feeling... apathetic. I'm not exactly depressed, but I'm finding it difficult to care about anything writing-related at the moment.

Which sucks, because I've had some really good ideas lately. I just can't get them onto the computer. Maybe I'm just being overly critical, or maybe I really am writing crap. Whatever it is, I can't seem to get any good prose out of my brain. Even my dialogue seems to be lacking.

I would try doing something else, except... I don't feel like it. So I just sit in my room, surfing aimlessly around the interwebs, until it's time to go to work. I actually enjoy my job, so that becomes an escape, which is what my free time should be. It just seems wrong somehow.

Blah. Maybe if I didn't stay up so late all the time.... @_@

ETA: My inner Princess Bride fan is greatly amused by the fact that there is an actual location called the Pit of Despair. Seriously, click the link. What are the chances?

Renewal of Faith

So after my Lana rant, I got to thinking. Was her character always this bad? Is the reason I loathe her and want to see her vaporized because of the way AlMiles have portrayed her? In the hands of the right author, could I actually appreciate her character? I've decided to find out.

This isn't an official challenge by any means, more like a request. If any of you have read a story (or stories) where you didn't want to strangle Lana by the end, and you actually (gasp) enjoyed her portrayal, then please, refer me to them so that I might see how other, better authors handle her character without turning her into a Sue.

I Must Be Brainwashed

I totally made some little girl's day today.

How does that relate to the title, you ask? Read behind the cut to find out.

Lana and What I Think of Her

So I've seen a lot of people's opinions on Lana, and I thought I'd make my own thoughts about her character perfectly clear. This is rather long, so I've hidden it behind a cut. Click on it to read more.

Just found this

Hidden beneath the cut for size (and decency) reasons.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

WARNING: The following paragraphs contain spoilers. Even though the movie has technically been released, not everyone has seen it yet. If you want to be surprised, don't click the link. You have been warned.

I've had this on friends lock for the last 24 hours, but now since the movie's been released, I'm opening it up for the public to view. Again, spoilers.

Back to You

Summary: Chloe once said that she would do anything for Clark. Now it's time for her to prove it.

Okay, a few notes before I get into the story:

Despite what the summary may lead you to believe, this is NOT Chlark. Well, not romantic anyway. You'll see why in the next section. Truth be told, there aren't really any ships in this story, though there is some Clark/Lois friendship. To reveal Chloe's role would be spoiling the plot. Just wait to be surprised.

Enjoy.

Fantards

Looks like you were right, Toby. Them nutcases are everywhere. Take a look at this.

I was having a discussion with my friends earlier this week. There was no need to create the Chloe character and now she is a part of why Clark is now viewed by many posters as weak. He depends on her way too much. She constantly does his thinking for him. Its annoying. Very annoying. Its like she is his crutch

Um... WTF? How was there "no need" to create her character? If I remember correctly, AlMiles created Chloe because DC wouldn't let them use Lois Lane at first. So, they designed her to be a sort of proto-Lois Lane, without actually being Lois herself. Many of her characteristics are patterned after ILL, and while her character's ultimate destination was undecided at that point, she was, at the very least, supposed to get Clark to realize that smart, snarky reporter girls are his type, so that he would eventually fall in love with her cousin, Lois. How is any of that unnecessary?

If anything, Chloe has helped Clark's character to develop. She's his closest friend, his secret-keeper, and the person who pushes him into action more often than not. She doesn't put up with his crap, and even though sometimes it may seem like she just magically comes up with the answer, all she really does is point Clark in the right direction. After that it's up to him and his superpowers to save the day.

If anyone has ruined Clark's character on the show, it's Lana. She's taken advantage of his blind loyalty so many times it's not even worth mentioning, because it's so damn obvious. Everybody and their hamster knows by now that she's no good for him. Not everyone acknowledges it, but it's common knowledge that Lana is the worst thing to ever happen to him.

Bah.

My Fanfic Pet Peeves

This is an older rant, and it's already prominently displayed on my ffnet profile, but I thought I'd put it here because it covers a lot of relevant (and annoying) topics that can never get enough attention. So I'm reposting it. Hope you enjoy.

Threshold

Another cute little one-shot. I went back to the first season for this one. Things were so much simpler then. *sigh*

Anyway, enjoy.

Tutor

This is just a fun, fluffy little one-shot I did, set during season six. Clark teaches Chloe to read Kryptonian.

Sapphic, Final Act

And the final act. Resolution... and hints of things to come.

Sapphic, Act Three

The third act. Everything comes to a head....

Sapphic, Act Two

And the second act. The plot thickens....

Sapphic, Act One

Here's Act One. Setting up the conflicts....

Sapphic

This one is massive. I wanted to write a story that stuck to the show's format pretty closely, and this is the result. The completed story is 25,664 words. Unfortunately, LJ has a page limit, which means I'll have to post this in sections. The teaser is below.

Some warnings and general comments before I dive into the storytelling:

First of all, this contains femslash. That is, girls who are attracted to (and make out with) other girls. It's pretty understated, and it's not even permanent, but having written it in my last fandom (which was for a show that aired on Disney Channel, no less) I know it bothers some people. So if you're not comfortable with it, I suggest you don't click the link. But if you've ever imagined Chloe and Lana making out, this is the story for you.

Oh, and for those curious about the timeline, this takes place during season six, around the same time as Freak. However, in this version of the episode, they don't go to the bowling alley....

Enjoy.
